June Marano-Murray

Choir director/organist June Marano-Murray holds a Bachelor Degree of Music in piano and a Master Degree of Music in accompanying from Manhattan School of Music in NYC.  Upon graduation, she was awarded the prestigious Harold Bauer Award.  She has studied organ with well known organist Allen Sever and is a long standing member of the American Guild of Organists, Northern Valley Chapter. She was a scholarship student at the Graz Music Festival in Graz, Austria.  June has worked as conductor/ assistant conductor at Wolf Trap Co., NY Opera Repertory Theater, Lake George Opera, Amato Opera, Opera Ensemble of NY, Central City Opera, Chauttauqua Opera, and Asolo Opera, now renamed Sarasota Opera, in Sarasota, Florida.  She has performed and taught at the Tainan Summer Camp in Tainan, Taiwan.  Along with Second Reformed Church, June also plays organ at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Tenafly, NJ.   She has been on the opera coaching staff of Manhattan School of Music for 27 years.  She privately coaches and teaches, along with freelancing in accompanying/organ capacities.


Pamela E. Jones

Soprano Section Leader Pamela Jones recently returned from Copenhagen, Denmark, where she sang thirty performances of the role of Lily with the Royal Danish Theatre in Porgy and Bess. Winner of the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Dundalk (Ireland) International Drama Festival for her portrayal of Sister Mary Amnesia in the musical, Nunsense, Pamela Jones enjoys bringing colorful characters to life. She had another opportunity to do so when she performed the role of Miss Rose in the New York premiere of Séance on a Wet Afternoon by Stephen Schwartz at New York City Opera.  During the twelve years that she sang with the opera company she was featured in many main stage, education department, and Contemporary American Opera Lab (VOX Festival) productions.  She has also been a soloist at Merkin Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall.  Ms. Jones earned her Master’s Degree in Voice Performance from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She is beginning her fourth season with the choir at Second Reformed Church.



Leslie Gillen-Malanga

Alto Section Leader Leslie Gillen-Malanga has studied voice with Sebastian Vittuchi at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna and with Jeanne Goffi at Columbia University, New York. Before joining the Second Reformed Church of Hackensack Choir in 2004, Leslie sang alto with the Anglican Christ Church Choir, Vienna, Austria (1989-1993), St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church Choir, New York City, (1993-1995), was alto section leader/soloist with St. Brendan’s Church Choir, Clifton (1996-1997), Preakness Reformed Church, Wayne (1998-2000) and soprano section leader/soloist for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Englewood (2002). Leslie is Chief of English Interpretation at the United Nations in New York.

 

Gary Hickey 

 

Gary has been the baritone soloist and section leader at Second Reformed since 2003.

He has sung the role of the 1st Hermit in Warren Martin’s The True Story of Cinderella. His singing experience spans all the way back to fourth grade when he was a male soprano.  He and his wife Shirine live in Oradell with their three daughters. They are long time members of The Second Reformed Church. Gary is also a manager of Information Technology for Vertican Technologies.
